How many images are in the GlobePhotos.com archive?

At our site’s launching, in the summer of 2001, GlobePhotos.com went on line with 50,000 images.

How often are new photos added?

New images are scanned and added to our archive daily as events occur. Check back often if you don't find what you are looking for today.

What do I need to download images from GlobePhotos.com?

The GlobePhotos.com site has been designed to provide an intuitive, interactive user experience requiring a minimum of setup. All that one needs to begin using Globe Photo’s extensive library of digital assets is an active GlobePhotos.com user account and a computer with an Internet connection and compatible software.

To obtain a GlobePhotos.com account, please see our prospective client form in the "Contact Us" section of our site.

The latest version of industry-standard browser software is recommended for this site. However, GlobePhotos.com has been designed with the following minimum software requirements in mind:

For Windows (PC) users: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4 and higher, or Netscape Navigator 4.08 or Communicator 4.73, and Macromedia’s Flash Player plug-in.

For Macintosh users: Internet Explorer 5 and higher, or Netscape 4.08 or Communicator 4.73, and Macromedia’s Flash Player plug-in. To handle compressed .ZIP files, you must have appropriate software (such as WinZip for Windows users, and StuffIt Expander for Macintosh) installed on your local workstation.

If you are having difficulty with one of the above combinations, or have questions about other hardware or software options, please view our contact page to learn where to address your inquiry.

How am I billed for images downloaded from GlobePhotos.com?

All images downloaded from GlobePhotos.com are subject to the copyright and licensing agreement posted on the site.

GlobePhotos.com logs each image download and records this information for billing purposes. Digital asset downloads adhere to Globe Photos’ existing pricing structure and plans. Only images actually used and/or published are subject to billing. It is the client’s responsibility to notify Globe Photos, Inc. of all usage.

For specific pricing inquiries, please view our contact page to learn how to reach the appropriate Globe Photos representative.

How large are the files in the archive?

Files sizes vary according to the nature and composition of each individual image.

Generally, most images available for download at GlobePhotos.com fall into a range between 350 and 500 KB. Please remember, however, that this range is a rough approximation intended as a benchmark for users concerned about download times.

What image sizes are available online?

Similar to file sizes, the dimensions of those digital assets available for download at GlobePhotos.com vary substantially from one to another.

As an approximation, full-size images with a portrait orientation frequently measure 1700 pixels in width, and 2100 in height. Landscape assets size roughly at 2200 pixels in width, and 1800 pixels in height. Again, please be aware these figures are guidelines and actual image dimensions may differ substantially

How will the images appear in print?
